Toowoomba's Languages & Cultures Festival 2018
I received my B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology with a concentration in Cultural Anthropology. I often refer myself as an Anthropologist and Photographer. I had a great opportunity to photograph the Toowoomba's Languages and Cultures Festival this year. My two fields came together.
I believe that photography and culture compliment one another. Photography captures one's (or group's) traditions, stories, and culture; and allows for those experiences to be shared with others-family, friends, future generations.
This event celebrates the diverse cultures and traditions in the local area. I was assigned to the dancing group area that also featured the: police, fire and rescue departments; reptile demostration; Bun Bu Ryo Do and Demo area; and the arts and crafts tent. But I did wander off to the other areas of the festival.
