Shadowing a Wedding-A New Obsession

I had an amazing opportunity and experience to shadow two of the best wedding photographers Holly Perreault with Xpression Photography and Matthew Thwing. I do not know where to start to express how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to shadow these two individuals. In the short time I was there, I learned so much.

Before Saturday, I wasn't sure if wedding photography was for me. I believe it was mostly nerves because there is SO much pressure to make sure you capture every moment, especially the ones that the client wants or expects to have. I told my husband before hand that I wanted to try it out and see if it would be something I would be interested, already thinking that I wouldn't. BUT I was wrong. I LOVED the entire experience! I loved the craziness, the atmosphere, the creative aspects, the need to be creative, the interaction with the bride, groom, wedding party, vendors, EVERYTHING!

I can honestly say that this was the first time I felt complete and whole. I have my husband and daughter, but I have always felt something was missing. Photography has filled the void in my life that I have felt was missing. And this experience was the last piece of the puzzle to complete me.

This wedding was one of the most unique styles I have seen. Beauty and the Beast inspired with a vintage twist. Every detail inspired a plethora of ideas to shoot.

Holly and Matthew are not only amazing photographers, but wonderful and inspiring individuals. In an industry that can be very competitive, they shared with me experiences, ideas, and ways to improve my skills.

I am no where near ready to go out and start shooting weddings on my own. However, I am ready for the next opportunity to shoot a wedding. I am going to spend the next couple of years hopefully building my skills, so when we do return to the states for Australia, I will be able to have a more active role in wedding photography. But until then, I am jumping on every opportunity I can.

Again, I cannot begin to express my gratitude for this amazing opportunity! Can't wait for the next one!

Here are just a few of my work from the wedding. To see the work of Holly and Matthew, check out Xpression Photography's website: http://www.xpressionphoto.com/
